What areas does Iron Peak Landscaping serve?
Kalispell, Whitefish, Columbia Falls, Bigfork, Lakeside, Somers and Evergreen. If your property's near that range but not directly in one of these towns, ask, and we'll tell you honestly whether it's a fit.
What are your business hours?
Monday through Friday, 8am to 7pm.
Do you offer emergency or after-hours service?
No. We work Monday through Friday during regular hours and don't offer after-hours or emergency service.
Do you provide free estimates?
Yes. Every estimate is free and provided in writing before any work starts.
How do I request an estimate?
Call, email, or use the contact form. We'll set up a time to walk the site in person, since that's the only way to size a project to your actual soil and grade.
What do you need from me to provide an estimate?
Mainly access to the property and an idea of what you're trying to solve or build. We handle the technical side, grade, soil, drainage, base depth, during the site walk.
How deep does a paver patio base need to be?
A patio carrying regular foot traffic generally needs 6 to 8 inches of compacted base in this valley, sized to your specific soil on the site visit rather than a generic number.
Why do retaining walls fail in Montana?
Almost always water pressure with nowhere to go. A wall built without drainage rock and a drain line behind it lets water build up in the soil every wet season until it pushes the face out.
What's the best time of year for sod installation?
Spring and early fall, once soil temperature holds above roughly 55 degrees Fahrenheit, generally give sod the easiest path to rooting before summer heat or a hard frost.
Rock or mulch, which is better for a Montana yard?
It depends on the spot. Rock is closer to permanent and handles foot traffic and wind well. Mulch costs less up front and feeds the soil as it breaks down, but needs an annual refresh.
Do you handle full landscape renovations, or just single services?
Both. If it's one element, a patio, a wall, sod, that's its own scoped project. If a yard needs several pieces planned and built together, that's a full renovation with one written estimate covering the whole scope.
Do you clear yards for wildfire defensible space?
We can clear ladder fuels, dead brush and debris from the zones closest to a structure. For a formal defensible space assessment, Montana DNRC's guidance is the right reference alongside the clearing work we do.
Who actually does the work on my property?
Sawyer and the crew, directly. Iron Peak Landscaping is owner-operated, and Sawyer stays the point of contact from the first site walk through the final walkthrough.
Can you match an existing patio, wall or bed if I'm only doing part of my yard?
Usually, yes. Bring a photo, or we'll look at the existing material during the site visit and source a close match for style, size and color.
